Why Does September Represent a Powerful Sense of New Beginnings?
What is it about September that makes it feel different from any other month on the calendar?
Sure, the summer turns to fall and the slower pace of being in vacation mode gives way to a more productivity-focused rhythm. Yes, it marks the end of Q3 and reminds us Q4 is right around the corner.
But other months bring change, too — like, December into January. And time is always moving forward.
Yet, for many of us, September feels different — like a “second new year.” It carries that fresh-start energy, both psychologically and emotionally…just like January.
Personally, it feels like this has been the longest nine months ever. And at the same time? It got here in a blink of an eye. And, I’m absolutely feeling the pressure of what’s still unfinished.
So here’s the position I’m holding about September: it’s nature’s gentle nudge inviting you and me to reflect on our relationship with change through a single question.
Are you moving with change, or resisting it?
When you pause to take stock of your goals — where you started the year vs. where you are now — what do you notice?
Is there a gap? And if so, how do you feel about it — frustrated, grateful, motivated, all of the above?
What about the gap do you wish were different?
What do you feel inspired to do regarding the gap?
The first step in managing any season of transition is noticing. Noticing where in your life, business, and money a transition is already underway.
And once you notice, you can start to engage with it more intentionally.
September’s “new beginning” energy is an invitation to pause and ask yourself:
What transitions am I experiencing right now — expected and unexpected?
Which of these am I embracing and moving with, and which am I resisting?
What’s one small choice I can make today to align myself with where this period of transition is leading me?
I’ve always bristled at the self-help phrase, “it happens for you, not to you.” 🥴Likely because whenever someone has said it to me, it was the absolute last thing I wanted to hear.
But here’s what I can get behind: Transitions don’t just happen to us — they shape us.
Periods of transition tend to sharpen key skills, which often help us to navigate our new or uncertain circumstances.
Skills like:
Resilience
Adaptability
Problem solving
Creative-thinking
Communication
Self-awareness
Proactive
As I reflect on how I’m navigating September thus far, I can assure you that creative-thinking, problem-solving, and being proactive are the skills that have helped me do things that are totally out of my comfort-zone. Particularly when it comes to what I've been doing to promote the Pricing Made Human® Experience.
This is why I can get behind the idea of transitions shaping us.
In my opinion, the choices you and I make during periods of transition shape us mostly because they help us discover more about what we are capable of.
So, the more conscious you are about the choices you make during them, the more power you have to use this month as a catalyst rather than just another checkpoint.
This is why I believe September represents a powerful sense of new beginnings.
What does it represent for you?
For me, it’s a reminder of the power of transitions and choices — themes we’ll be diving into at the Pricing Made Human® Experience. By the way, are you joining us or have you shared the link with someone you know who would benefit? [click here]
About Jacquette
I love to ask questions and spark aha moments. I love to talk about why success with money is about more than just the numbers, and how the cultural impact on the intersection of money, business, and life matters–A LOT! And, I really hope I help people feel seen, heard, and not judged—especially since money is emotional and personal.
