Three Words Shaped My Birthday Celebration; Here's Why They Matter For You
Meaningful. Beautiful. Intimate.
I threw myself a very lovely birthday party. It was an intimate gathering of 18 people — most of whom I’ve known since the 80’s and 90’s.
I was intentional about every single detail. That intentionality was shaped by how I wanted to feel and how I wanted my guests to feel, too.
Every decision I made — the venue (Flawless House), the menu, my guest list and how I honored them, even the photos of my mother I chose for the grand piano — was filtered through three words: meaningful, beautiful, and intimate.
And that is exactly how the evening felt — to me and, according to the many sweet messages I’ve received, to my guests as well.
So…what does my birthday party have to do with you?
In one word: clarity.
I don’t presume everyone is experiencing 2025 the same way — but for many of us, it has been a doozy.
My own business has taken a hit.
A client lost half a million dollars in revenue.
Tariffs are rippling through every corner of the economy.
And some folks may be facing significant increases in healthcare costs.
It’s a lot!
Even in “normal” times:
prioritizing can feel overwhelming
financial pressure can mount
coherence feels deeply needed
And because these times aren’t normal, all of that gets amplified.
Which makes clarity not just helpful — but essential.
Here’s the thing about clarity: it drives your decision-making and your strategy.
As you wrap up the year and prepare for the next one, clarity becomes one of the important tools in your tool-kit.
But clarity can feel elusive. When it does, here’s what I suggest:
Think less about what to do, and more about how you want to feel.
My three words — meaningful, beautiful, and intimate — weren’t just design principles for a party. They were my clarity beacons. They made every choice easier, more coherent, and more aligned.
What three words would you choose as your clarity beacons for the rest of the year? (Write them down. Let them guide your choices for the next few weeks — you may be surprised by the coherence that emerges.)
If reflecting on this brings something to the surface — a decision you’ve been postponing, a shift you’re ready to make, or a desire that finally wants to be named — my Clarity Session may be just the space for it. It’s a 90-minute deep dive designed to help you sort through the noise and identify what matters most right now. (Book here.)
It’s been a few days since my celebration, and as I’ve rested and reflected, I’m reminded of this:
Clarity may not take away overwhelm or financial pressure, but it does create the coherence and emotional calm you need to navigate them.
While I was planning my birthday celebration, I was also quietly working on something new for those of you who are rethinking the role pricing will play in your business next year. It’s designed to promote clarity, relief, and a new way of seeing pricing
I’m not ready to reveal it just yet — but if pricing has been on your mind, keep an eye out.
Something special is coming soon.
