Shape the Year Ahead Now: Get Ready to Reset, Realign, and Move Forward

Today’s a big day in New York City — the NYC Marathon. And like many New Yorkers, I was out there cheering on runners from around the world!

Watching the marathon is a sight to behold. Yes, it’s awe-inspiring to see the professional runners who look like they are gliding through the air.

But, honestly, I’m just as impressed by the “everyday” runner — the one who doesn’t “look” like a runner; the disabled one; the one who reaches where I am on the route (around mile 8), in Brooklyn, and is already walking…but, heh, they’re still in it.

The marathon’s finish line is in Central Park. Every runner knows it’s coming and with each passing mile that they are getting closer.

Kinda like December 31.

You know it’s coming and with each day it’s getting closer.

Watching the runners reminds me that progress always has its own pace — and sometimes, the hardest part isn’t the distance ahead, but the stories we tell ourselves about how we should be running it.

Same is true for you and me as we round the corner to year-end.

I don’t know about you, but for me 2025 feels like both the longest and shortest year — simultaneously! Like, how is it already November 2nd?!

Honestly, I’m freaking out just a tad bit. Eight and a half weeks before year-end — and there’s still so much I want to get done. Or, more accurately, some key milestones and goals to hit.

And I’m feeling a little pressure.

Can you relate?

Lately, the question I keep circling back to is this:

How can I get out of my own way to make it happen — and what thoughts or myths do I need to shed versus which beliefs and actions I need to double-down on?

Reflection Before Replanting

As I wrote a few weeks ago, it behooves you and me to look at our “current outcomes not as verdicts, but as information.” This is not easy by any measure — I know. Particularly when the outcomes are not what we want.

But with just a few short weeks left until year-end, focusing on that “information” can be a blessing. It’s the classic example of creativity thriving within constraints. It invites you to think less about doing more — and more about doing it with intention.

So when you ask questions, like:

What’s worked?

What hasn’t?

And what can I learn from both?

You can do so with an openness that reduces the likelihood of self-judgment and self-blame taking root.

Let the answers to these questions become the seeds of your next season — guiding what to carry forward, what to compost, and what to plant anew.

Realign & Move Forward

And as you do, notice where small adjustments could lead to meaningful realignment. (This is something I’m currently in the midst of regarding the marketing of my coaching offers.)

For you, maybe it’s shifting how you approach your time, money, or energy.

Maybe it’s refining a system that once worked but now needs tweaking.

Or, maybe it’s acknowledging a value or desire that’s been whispering for your attention all year long.

This is how alignment begins — not with a massive overhaul, but with steady, intentional choices that bring your actions closer to what truly matters.

Because the goal isn’t just to finish the year strong; it’s to enter the next one grounded, clear, and already in motion.

Doesn’t that feel energizing?

Doesn’t getting started now before the holiday season and all its attendant obligations feel liberating?

Here’s how I look at this time of the year on the calendar: it’s not just about wrapping things up — but preparing the ground for what’s to come

Taking the time to reflect helps you reset. So, put some time on your calendar to “reflect.”

Realignment helps you move forward with clarity.

Together, they create the conditions for your next harvest to take root.

And that’s where your attention now becomes your advantage.

So as the year starts to wind down and you think about what you want to grow in 2026 — in your business, your finances, or your life — here’s another question to ask yourself:

What needs to shift so you can create more ease and momentum in the next eight and a half weeks?

If that question stirs something in you, I’d love to help you explore it. A 90-minute Clarity Session is a focused space to step back, reconnect with your priorities, and identify the next right moves — the ones that make your success feel grounded and sustainable.

Because you don’t need to wait for January 1 to begin again.

You can start your next season now.
